Three judges heard by the Vetting Commission on the first day of the September round of hearings

Panels D and F of the Judicial Vetting Commission heard, on the first day of the September round of hearings, two judges serving on specialized panels adjudicating corruption and corruption-related cases, as well as a former court president.

During the hearing of Elizaveta Buzu, a judge serving on specialized panels adjudicating corruption cases, the Commission sought clarification regarding donations made for the benefit of her partner, as well as matters related to the purchase of a vehicle, in the context of examining concerns regarding financial integrity.

The Commission members also examined the income of the judge’s partner, who was heard during the same hearing. The discussions focused on circumstances relevant to the assessment of potentially unjustified wealth for 2021 and the period 2023–2025, with regard to income attributed to him, within the evaluation period. The hearing of the judge’s partner was held in a closed session.

In the case of Alina Gorceac, a judge serving on specialized panels adjudicating corruption cases, the Commission examined matters related to ethical integrity. During the part of the hearing held in closed session, Commission members sought clarification regarding a potential conflict of interest, as well as compliance with the legal framework governing the declaration of assets and personal interests.

Judge Vasile Nogai was heard in the context of the re-evaluation procedure ordered by the Superior Council of Magistracy.

The hearing addressed, among other matters, reduced prices declared for the purchase of vehicles, certain aspects concerning household consumption expenditures used in the financial analysis, as well as issues related to potentially unjustified wealth for the years 2013, 2015 and 2018, and for the period 2021–2023.

With regard to ethical integrity, the judge was asked questions concerning the circumstances of potential undeclared conflicts of interest.

The hearings will continue on Thursday, 17 September 2026, with judges Valeriu Curicheru and Olga Bejenari of the Chișinău Court (see the attached schedule). Both judges are being evaluated in connection with their work on specialized anti-corruption panels.
