Ion Rusu, the Acting Vice-President of the Drochia Court, has successfully passed the external evaluation conducted by the Judicial Vetting Commission. According to the conclusions of the report submitted today to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), the judge meets the criteria of ethical and financial integrity, and the Commission recommends that he pass the external evaluation.
At this stage, the evaluation result is preliminary and is available on the Commission’s website in the “Subjects” section. The report will be published after its review by the SCM. The Council will decide whether to accept or reject the report and, if applicable, may order a re-evaluation of the judge.
The evaluation report will become public following SCM’s review, after the three-day period allowed for contestation has expired, or, if applicable, after a final decision by the Supreme Court of Justice. The document will also be published on the Commission’s webpage in the “Decisions/Reports” section.
Context
Judge Ion Rusu underwent evaluation due to the leadership positions he has held over the past five years, in accordance with Law No. 252/2023. The procedure began in May of last year, when the judge was notified of the start of the verification process. During the evaluation, the judge responded to multiple rounds of questions regarding potential integrity concerns preliminarily identified by the Judicial Vetting Commission. These issues were clarified throughout the procedure, including during the public hearing in which the judge agreed to participate. The hearing took place in December of last year, with a portion held in closed session at the judge’s request, which was approved by the members of the Evaluation Panel.
