Panel E of the Commission heard Judge Angela Vasilenco as part of the external evaluation procedure

Judge Angela Vasilenco of the Chișinău Court was heard today by Panel E of the Commission as part of the external evaluation procedure concerning her activity on specialized panels examining corruption and corruption-related cases.

During the hearing, the Panel members requested clarifications regarding several aspects of the judge’s financial situation.

The discussions focused mainly on the years 2014, 2015, and 2016. For certain periods, preliminary calculations indicated discrepancies between available income and the household’s estimated expenses. The judge was given the opportunity to provide explanations regarding these aspects.

The hearing also addressed the manner in which certain expenses were allocated according to the categories included in the statistical indicator “Household Consumption Expenditures.”

The hearing is one of the stages of the evaluation procedure. The matters discussed during the hearing do not represent the Commission’s final conclusions. These will be set out in the evaluation report.

The video recording of the hearing will be published within no more than three days after the hearing takes place.
