Specialized anti-corruption panel judges enter evaluation phase

The Judicial Vetting Commission announces the launch of the evaluation procedure for judges serving on panels specialized in the examination of corruption-related cases, in accordance with the list submitted by the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). Today, the Commission sent notifications to the new group of subjects of the external evaluation. This group includes judges of the Chișinău Court who, as of 1 January 2017, have been members of panels specialized in corruption and corruption-related cases.

The judges notified, according to the list submitted by SCM, are:

  1. Tatiana Bivol
  2. Angela Vasilenco
  3. Vasilisa Muntean
  4. Veaceslav Cernalev
  5. Viorelia Grigoraș
  6. Nicolae Corcea
  7. Arina Ialanji
  8. Cristina Cheptea
  9. Olga Bejenari
  10. Liliana Cușca
  11. Ana Bologan
  12. Alina Gorceac
  13. Valeriu Curicheru
  14. Vladislav Negru
  15. Elizaveta Buzu
  16. Sergiu Ciobanu

The list received from the SCM also includes judges Vitalie Budeci, Angela Catană, and Ana Cucerescu, who are currently undergoing evaluation or re-evaluation as follows: Vitalie Budeci and Ana Cucerescu, as candidates for the position of judge at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Justice, and Angela Catană, as a former vice president of a court. These judges did not receive additional notifications, as their evaluation is already in progress.

Evaluation procedure

The notifications sent to the concerned judges request the completion and submission to the Commission of the following documents:

the Declaration of assets and personal interests, completed with updated data for the past five years;

  • the Declaration regarding the list of close persons within the judiciary, prosecution, and public service, integrated into a single form;
  • the Ethics Questionnaire.

The Commission has set a deadline of 20 calendar days for the submission of the declarations and the questionnaire, calculated from the date the notification is sent by email. Communication between the Commission and the subjects of the evaluation takes place via email throughout the entire process.

Following the completion of the initial document submission stage, the Commission will proceed to the collection and analysis of relevant information necessary for the evaluation.
