Four judges invited to hearings before Panels to clarify integrity concerns

The Judicial Vetting Commission will hear, on Monday, December 8, and Friday, December 12, four subjects of the vetting procedure, invited to provide clarifications regarding certain integrity concerns identified during the verification process. According to the schedule and applicable legal provisions, the following judges who have held leadership positions in the past five years will be heard, each before the panel responsible for evaluating their case:

• Vasile Nogai, former President and Acting President, Drochia Court – Panel D

• Mihail Bușuleac, former Vice President, Cahul Court – Panel C

• Ion Rusu, former Vice President and Acting Vice President, Drochia Court – Panel C

During these days, Panel B of the Judicial Vetting Commission will hear Judge Roman Pascari, from Chișinău Court, in his capacity as a candidate for the position of judge at the Central Court of Appeal, where he is temporarily assigned.

In this round of hearings, prosecutor Ion Covalciuc, in his capacity as a candidate for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice, was also scheduled to be heard. After receiving the hearing notification, he informed the Commission that he is withdrawing from the competition for the Supreme Court.

During the hearings, the subjects will respond to questions from Commission members regarding preliminary findings and any uncertainties related to financial and ethical integrity.
