Radu Jigău withdraws from the competition for the position of Supreme Court judge

2026-01-21

Lawyer Radu Jigău has withdrawn his candidacy for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice. His withdrawal request was submitted to the Judicial Vetting Commission and the Superior Council of Magistracy, and the Commission has taken note of this decision.

In accordance with the provisions of Law no. 65/2023, under which Radu Jigău was undergoing evaluation, the Commission records the withdrawal of the candidate from the contest, does not issue a decision, ruling, or report in this regard.

Radu Jigău’s evaluation procedure was initiated in September of last year. During the four months of the evaluation process, the candidate was asked several rounds of questions concerning potential financial and ethical integrity issues preliminarily identified by the Commission.

Following this withdrawal, the Commission continues the external evaluation procedure for the four remaining candidates in the contest for the position of judge at the Supreme Court.
