The Judicial Vetting Commission held its final hearing of the year concerning Judge Vasile Nogai, former President and Acting President of the Drochia District Court. The hearing took place before Panel D, composed of Marcel van de Wetering (Vice President of the Commission and Chair of the Panel), Iurie Gațcan, and Lilian Enciu.

During the public part of the hearing, the Commission examined several issues related to the judge’s financial integrity, including:

  • donations received from relatives;
  • the acquisition of vehicles at prices below market value;
  • de facto ownership of a motor vehicle;
  • the existence of potential unjustified wealth identified over several years within the evaluation period.

With regard to ethical integrity, the Commission examined two potential situations of conflict of interest in which the magistrate may have been involved in the exercise of his duties as a judge.

At the request of Judge Vasile Nogai, third parties were also invited to intervene during the hearing. These interventions took place during the closed session.

In accordance with the procedures established, the recording of the hearing will be published within no more than three days. Additionally, within 30 days, the Commission will prepare a reasoned report, which will include its conclusion on whether the magistrate passes or fails the evaluation.
