The Judicial Vetting Commission announces the conclusion of the submission period for the initial documents in the external evaluation of judges who, since January 1, 2017, have served on panels specialized in adjudicating corruption and corruption-related cases. Of the 16 judges notified on 5 February, 13 submitted, within the statutory deadline, their asset declarations for the past five years and the ethics questionnaire. Submission of these documents is mandatory for the continuation of the evaluation process.
Accordingly, the Judicial Vetting Commission will proceed with the evaluation regarding the following judges of the Chișinău Court: Tatiana Bivol, Angela Vasilenco, Vasilisa Muntean, Veaceslav Cernalev, Viorelia Grigoraș, Olga Bejenari, Liliana Cușca, Ana Bologan, Alina Gorceac, Valeriu Curicheru, Vladislav Negru, Elizaveta Buzu, and Sergiu Ciobanu.
Judges Nicolae Corcea and Arina Ialanji have informed both the Vetting Commission and the Superior Council of Magistracy of their intention to resign from office. Judge Cristina Cheptea did not submit the requested documents within the established deadline.
In the next stage, the Commission will initiate the process of collecting and verifying data for the judges who submitted the required documents. This process includes accessing relevant information systems, requesting information from public institutions and private entities, and examining any submissions received, provided they are specific, relevant, and duly substantiated.
Members of the public may submit relevant information regarding judges undergoing evaluation through the “Notify” section on the Judicial Vetting Commission’s official website – www.vettingmd.eu.
