2026-04-21

Following the recent appointment of the new international member, Aida-Oana Popescu, the Judicial Vetting Commission has approved a modification to the composition of Evaluation Panel E. Panel E has been reconfigured following the replacement of member Willem Brouwer with member Aida-Oana Popescu.

In accordance with prior decisions regarding panel composition, it was established that Commissioner Willem Brouwer would serve on Panel E until the appointment of the final international member by Parliament. Thereafter, he will continue his mandate within Panel G in the capacity of Chair.

The Commission will, in line with standard practice, notify all parties concerned in cases assigned to Panel E of the change in its composition. From a procedural standpoint, the examination of cases allocated to Panels E, F, G is currently at the stage of information gathering and analysis.

At present, the nine members of the Judicial Vetting Commission are organized into seven panels responsible for assessing subjects in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 252/2023. These are designated as Panels A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Each panel is chaired by a chairperson, who presides over public hearing sessions.
