Ongoing reevaluation: judge Silvia Cecan reheard by the Commission

2025-10-16

Today, Judge Silvia Cecan of the Central Court of Appeal was heard again by Panel B of the Judicial Vetting Commission, as part of the reevaluation procedure ordered by the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM).

During the hearing, panel members Scott Bales, Willem Brouwer, and Iurie Gațcan asked clarifying questions regarding the issues raised by the SCM in its decision to reject the Commission’s previous report, which had recommended that the judge fail the evaluation.

The questions focused mainly on financial aspects examined during the evaluation, including potential inexplicable wealth for certain periods within the 12-year assessment timeframe (2016–2018 and 2020–2021).

Within one month, the Commission will approve the re-evaluation report, which will be submitted to the SCM for review and the adoption of a final decision.

The recording of the hearing will be made public within three days.
