Today, Judge Tatiana Bivol of the Chișinău District Court appeared before Panel F as part of the evaluation process related to her work on specialized panels hearing corruption cases.
During the hearing, members of Panel F of the Judicial Vetting Commission asked a series of clarifying questions concerning several matters relevant to the evaluation.
The discussion covered, among other issues:
• potential conflicts of interest in cases involving a lawyer whom the judge knew personally;
• her involvement in a case examined by the ECtHR;
• the circumstances surrounding the purchase of a vehicle, including questions related to its potentially undervalued purchase price;
• matters related to asset and interest disclosure requirements, including the omission of certain loans from her declarations.
The video recording of the hearing will be made publicly available in the coming days.
Following the hearing, the Panel will adopt a report setting out its factual findings and the conclusion of the evaluation. The report is expected to be adopted within no more than 30 days from the date of the hearing.
The hearings will continue on Thursday, when two other judges serving on specialized panels for corruption cases — Liliana Cușcă and Veaceslav Cernalev — are scheduled to appear before the Commission.
