Judge Roman Pascari, currently serving at the Chișinău Court and temporarily assigned to the Central Court of Appeal, has withdrawn his candidacy for the position of judge at the Central Court of Appeal. The withdrawal request was submitted to the Judicial Vetting Commission, which has taken note of his decision.
The withdrawal occurred during the stage of the public hearing, after the candidate was informed of certain integrity-related issues that were scheduled to be discussed at the hearing on December 12. Consequently, the hearing will no longer take place.
The Commission cannot proceed with the evaluation of this candidate unless the Superior Council of Magistracy rejects the withdrawal request.
In accordance with the provisions of Law no. 252/2013, which governs, among other matters, the evaluation procedure for candidates applying for judge positions at the Courts of Appeal, the Commission records the candidate’s withdrawal without issuing decisions, resolutions, or additional reports regarding the evaluation outcome. The sole legal effect of the withdrawal is that the candidate is no longer eligible to participate in the current competition. The law, however, does not prevent subsequent participation in other competitions.
