Re-evaluation concluded with recommendation that Judge Vitalie Budeci fail the evaluation

The Judicial Vetting Commission has completed the re-evaluation procedure ordered by the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) regarding Judge Vitalie Budeci, a candidate for the position of judge at the Central Court of Appeal.

Following the re-evaluation, the Commission concluded that Judge Budeci does not meet the financial integrity criteria established by law. Consequently, it has recommended to the Superior Council of Magistracy that the judge not pass the external evaluation.

The re-evaluation report was submitted to the SCM today for examination and decision and was simultaneously communicated to the judge evaluated. The SCM will now review the Commission's findings and decide whether to accept or reject the report.

In the initial evaluation, the Commission had concluded that Judge Budeci did not meet the integrity criteria and recommended that he not pass the evaluation. Subsequently, the SCM ordered the candidate's re-evaluation.

The initial evaluation report and the re-evaluation report will be published after the expiry of the deadline for challenging the SCM's decision or, where applicable, following the issuance of a final judgment by the Supreme Court of Justice.
