Public hearings scheduled for 25

The Judicial Vetting Commission continues the external evaluation process of certain categories of judges by organizing a new round of public hearings on 25–27 May 2026.

Two candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice will be heard before the full nine-member Commission, as follows:

Ion Bîtcă, attorney-at-law;
Ion Covalciuc, prosecutor.

At the same time, Evaluation Panels A, B, and C will hold repeated hearings in the cases of three judges for whom the Superior Council of Magistracy ordered re-evaluation. These proceedings concern:

Veronica Cupcea, Acting President of the Orhei Court;
Vitalie Budeci, candidate for the position of judge at the Central Court of Appeal;
Ion Bulhac, judge at the Central Court of Appeal.

During the public hearings, the subjects of evaluation will respond to questions from Commission members regarding preliminary findings and any potential concerns related to ethical and financial integrity.
