The Judicial Vetting Commission has taken note of the withdrawal of lawyer Oxana Eșanu from the competition for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice. The request for withdrawal was submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), which acknowledged it at its session on 7 October 2025.
In the case of Oxana Eșanu, who was undergoing evaluation under Law No. 65/2023, the Commission acknowledges the withdrawal without issuing a decision, ruling, or report.
The Commission noted the withdrawal of lawyer Dorian Pînzaru, a civil society candidate for the position of member of the Disciplinary Board of Judges within the SCM. Dorian Pînzaru was being evaluated under Law No. 26/2022 on the selection of candidates for positions in the self-governing bodies of judges and prosecutors — a law that explicitly provides that withdrawal from the evaluation process is deemed equivalent to failing the external evaluation.
The Commission has today communicated the acknowledgment of withdrawal to the candidate and to the Ministry of Justice, the authority responsible for organizing the competition in this case.
Information regarding both withdrawals has been published on the Commission’s website. The decision concerning Dorian Pînzaru will be made public only with the candidate’s consent or in the absence of an objection expressed within 48 hours.
Voluntary withdrawal renders a candidate ineligible to participate in the ongoing competition, while not precluding participation in future competitions.
