The hearing of Judge Angela Catană, former interim President of the Chișinău Court

Judge Angela Catană, former interim Vice-President of the Chișinău Court, Buiucani seat, was heard by the Judicial Vetting Commission as part of the external evaluation process provided for under Law No. 252/2023 on the evaluation of judges and prosecutors.

The hearing focused mainly on issues of financial integrity. Members of Panel C asked questions regarding the judge’s household savings, financial support from family members, expenses related to the construction of a holiday home, and possible asset discrepancies over several years within the evaluated period — 2013, 2016, 2019–2022, and 2024.

Part of the hearing was held in closed session, at the judge’s request.

Following the hearing, the Evaluation Panel will prepare a report including relevant facts, arguments, and a recommendation on whether the judge should pass or fail the evaluation process. The evaluation result will be made public, and the report will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy.
