Hearing of Angela Vasilenco, judge serving on specialized anti-corruption panels

Judge Angela Vasilenco of the Chișinău District Court was interviewed by Panel G of the Judicial Vetting Commission as part of the external evaluation procedure provided for under Law No. 252/2023, in connection with her work on specialized panels handling corruption cases.

During the hearing, Panel members sought clarification on several aspects of the judge’s financial situation, with particular focus on the years 2014, 2015, and 2016. For certain periods, preliminary calculations indicated discrepancies between available income and estimated household expenses, and the judge was given the opportunity to provide explanations and additional information.

The discussion also covered how certain expenses were allocated under the categories included in the statistical indicator “Household Consumption Expenditure.”

Following the hearing, the Evaluation Panel will prepare a report setting out the relevant facts, arguments, and its recommendation as to whether the judge should pass or fail the evaluation. The report will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy, and the outcome of the evaluation will be made public.

a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;

b) fairness of the evaluation procedure;

c) publicity of the acts issued during the evaluation process;

d) exceptional nature of the evaluation.
