Hearing of Valeriu Curicheru, judge serving on specialized anti-corruption panels

Judge Valeriu Curicheru of the Chișinău Court was heard by Panel G of the Judicial Vetting Commission.

The hearing took place as part of the external evaluation procedure provided for by Law No. 252/2023, in connection with his activity on the specialized panels examining corruption cases.

The discussions focused on potential conflicts of interest related to several cases in which one of the parties was represented by a lawyer known to the judge.

At his request, these matters were examined in a closed session in order to protect the persons involved and sensitive information.

Following the hearing, the Panel will prepare a report setting out the relevant facts, the arguments considered, and its recommendation on whether the judge passes or fails the evaluation. The report will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy, and the outcome of the evaluation will be made public.

📜 The extraordinary external evaluation is conducted based on the following principles:

a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;

b) fairness of the evaluation procedure;

c) publicity of the acts issued during the evaluation process;

d) exceptional nature of the evaluation.
