University Professor Elena Croitor is a candidate for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and is being evaluated by the Judicial Vetting Commission in accordance with Law no. 65/2023. The Commission invited her to a hearing as part of the evaluation process.
The hearing took place before the full Commission, in accordance with the legal procedures applicable to SCJ candidates. After reviewing the information collected, the Commission did not identify any concerns requiring further discussion during the hearing, as all matters related to the candidate’s integrity verification had been fully clarified in written communications with her.
During the hearing, Elena Croitor was asked to confirm the accuracy and validity of the information provided in her declarations, ethics questionnaire, and responses submitted to the Commission throughout the evaluation process.
Following the hearing, the Commission will approve an evaluation report, which will be forwarded to the Superior Council of Magistracy.
📜The evaluation of the Supreme Court of Justice judges and of candidates for the position of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice is carried out based on the following principles:
a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;
b) fairness of the evaluation procedure;
c) publicity of the acts issued in the evaluation process;
d) exceptional nature of the evaluation.
