Hearing of judge Radu Țurcanu of the Chișinău Court

Judge Radu Țurcanu of the Chișinău Court was heard by the Judicial Vetting Commission as part of the external evaluation process, in accordance with Law no. 252/2023 on the evaluation of judges and prosecutors.

Since he held leadership positions between 2017 and 2021, the Commission examined aspects related to his financial and ethical integrity, including unexplained asset discrepancies for the years 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2023, as well as the potential improper granting of allowances and salary supplements during the COVID-19 pandemic. All these issues were addressed during the hearing.

Following the hearing, the Panel will approve a report containing the relevant facts, the reasoning, and a recommendation regarding the promotion or non-promotion of the evaluation of the subject. The evaluation outcome will be published, and the report will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy.

a) independence of the Evaluation Commission;
