Judge Veronica Cupcea, acting president of the Orhei Court, was heard again by the Judicial Vetting Commission as part of a re-evaluation procedure ordered by the Superior Council of Magistracy.
As in the initial evaluation, her case was examined by Panel C of the Commission. During the hearing, conducted as part of the re-evaluation, the judge provided explanations regarding a loan granted in 2011 by a family member and the manner in which the repayment obligation was allegedly settled at a later stage through the transfer of two land plots.
The Panel members also examined the household’s financial flows, focusing on potential discrepancies in assets and income for the periods 2013–2014, 2017, and 2020. Throughout the hearing, the judge was assisted by her legal counsel.
As part of the re-evaluation procedure, an additional closed hearing was held during which several witnesses were heard. This session is not included in the published recording.
Following the hearing, the Panel will adopt a report setting out the relevant facts, the Commission’s reasoning, and its recommendation as to whether the subject should pass or fail the re-evaluation. The report will be submitted to the Superior Council of Magistracy, and the outcome of the re-evaluation will be made public.
📜The external extraordinary evaluation is carried out based on the following principles:
