Marcel van de Wetering is a judge with over 30 years of professional experience in the legal field, primarily within the judiciary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Since 2007, he has served at the District Court of Zeeland West Brabant in Breda, where he has held positions including, civil judge, criminal judge, investigating judge, and currently, senior criminal judge and member of the management team of the criminal law team. From 2018 to 2021, he acted as co-ordinating investigating judge.
Prior to his judicial career, he worked for over a decade in the governmental legal sector, including at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment as senior legal advisor and team co-ordinator.
He holds a Master in Law from Utrecht University, with a specialization in private law practice, criminal law practice and international law. Throughout his career, he has contributed to professional and civic life through participation in boards and appeal committees.
