Who is Gerrit-Marc Sprenger

Gerrit-Marc Sprenger is an international expert with over 30 years of experience in the judiciary and rule of law. He currently serves as International Observer of the International Monitoring Operation (IMO) for the vetting of judges and prosecutors in Albania (2020–present). Previously, he held senior positions within the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), including Acting President and Vice-President of the Assembly of EULEX Judges, as well as Criminal Judge at the Supreme Court and District Courts in Kosovo.

Throughout his career, he has served as International Member of the Kosovo Judicial Council, Legal Expert with the European Union Planning Team for Kosovo (EUPT), and Judicial Affairs Officer with the UNMIK Judicial Inspection Unit. In Germany, he served for more than 20 years as a criminal and civil law judge in Thuringia.

His publications and presentations include works on judicial evaluation, criminal law, and electronic case allocation. He has been awarded the EU Peace Medal for EUPT participation (2008) and the EULEX Kosovo Medal (2010).
